I'm an English teacher with a love of reading and a pretty serious case of wanderlust. I'm currently living in London, England but I got my Bachelor of Education in Canada. As graduation day loomed, like many other teacher graduates in Ontario, I was faced with a singular lack of permanent job opportunities. So I signed on with an international agency, took one of the jobs they offered me, and hopped on a plane to England.
At first I said I'd only be gone a year or maybe two. I would come home armed with actual teaching experience and be ready to tackle the Ontario job market. That was four and a half years ago.
Now England is my home. Teaching here is hard, but the people I have met, the vibrancy of London, and the opportunities for affordable travel meant I never seriously considered giving up and going back to Canada.
Now, with the end of my ancestry visa hovering on the horizon, I am looking to a future where I can travel on a either Canadian or a British passport.
This website is a place for me to write about my experiences, so that family and friends at home know what I'm getting up to, and so that I can hopefully help other people like me who are keen to explore international teaching or just see something of the world. I hope you enjoy your visit here!
